What Rene's Work Actually Produces
Most AI advice comes from people who have never had to make payroll. Rene has run the same business for more than twenty years, and every framework he teaches has already been used on his own company and his own clients — which is why the examples come with numbers attached instead of screenshots.
2.5 days
billing cycle, down from two weeks
AI-driven automation cut one client's billing cycle by 82%, freeing an entire team to spend that time on higher-value work instead of processing.
17+ hours
of manual processing eliminated, per project
For a construction client drowning in manual data management, his team built an automated system that preserved the critical data relationships and turned project documentation from a labor-intensive liability into a searchable, reliable asset.
20+ years
running the company he co-founded
Ener Systems has served small and mid-sized businesses across every vertical in the Greater New Orleans and North Shore area for more than two decades.
The Long Version
He started on the factory floor
Rene holds a Bachelor of Science in Mechanical Engineering from the University of New Orleans and spent the early part of his career in the automotive industry, designing and implementing computerized robotic assemblies to make production lines faster and more efficient. Automating work that used to be done by hand is not a new interest for him — it is the whole career.
The pattern that became a company
He and his wife Michele, also a mechanical engineer, kept noticing the same thing at every employer: the companies had powerful technology but nobody who could set it up, maintain it, and make it work for the people depending on it. They kept getting pulled into “unplanned work” — fixing computers, building networks, solving problems nobody else could. They turned out to be remarkably good at it, and they launched Ener Systems on a mission to help businesses eliminate the unplanned work that drains their time, energy, and profitability.
Twenty years of running the business he advises about
Ener Systems is a leading independently owned technology solutions firm serving small and mid-sized businesses across every vertical in the Greater New Orleans and North Shore area, and Rene has co-founded and led it for more than two decades. When he talks about budget pressure, hiring, or what an owner can realistically absorb in a quarter, it is not theory.
The AI Business Maturity Model
Central to Rene's approach is the AI Business Maturity Model — a strategic framework that helps C-suite leaders understand where their organization stands today on AI readiness, where they want to go, and which practical intermediate steps actually make sense to get there. It is not a one-size-fits-all sales pitch. It is a roadmap built around the realities of budget, culture, existing infrastructure, and the people who make it all work.
Security first, or not at all
As the only CISSP-certified business owner in the New Orleans market, Rene brings a security-first mindset to every AI engagement. He attends six major security conferences a year, including BlackHat in Las Vegas — which has added two full pre-conference days dedicated entirely to AI security over the past two years. He builds security verification into every stage of his maturity model, so companies are not just adopting AI but adopting it responsibly, with their data, their clients' information, and their compliance requirements protected.

At the retreat
Rene is in the room for the full day. His lane is the executive one — the maturity model that gives the day its Score → Plan spine, the CFO-grade question of what a workflow actually returns, and the security review every build gets before it goes anywhere near real company data. If you are the person who has to defend the number afterward, he is the instructor to corner at lunch.
